Southwind is such a great venue to have your wedding! After months of planning, Shelby and Ryan’s big day was here. The weather was warm and sunny with just a slight breeze. Couldn’t have asked for better. So perfect for a wedding! You might remember Shelby and Ryan’s engagement. We roamed all over MSU campus. They are both true bulldogs, so I knew I’d see plenty of maroon and white. Go Dawgs!
When asked about their love story, Shelby asked her Maid of Honor, Kellie, to tell their story: “Ryan and Shelby met at Mississippi State University on Shelby’s move-in day during her freshman year. Shelby was rooming with Lauren, her friend from church growing up. Lauren was friends with Ryan from high school. So they met through Lauren on August 10, 2013. A week later, to the surprise of friends and family, Shelby and Ryan were dating! Now, if you know these two, you know they have never been apt to jump into things, but they both had spent time in prayer and felt God’s peace about beginning a relationship with one another. As it turns out, Ryan and Shelby had met briefly earlier that summer, when Lauren had torn her ACL and the two were there visiting their friend. Then, when both sets of parents found out they were dating, they informed the couple that they had grown up in church together and they had pictures together from when they were in the first or second grade! It’s amazing how God brings things together, isn’t it?”
A few weeks ago, I received an email from Shelby. On their wedding day, she and Ryan were going to say their vows to each other during their bride and groom photos. I’m so glad I was there to capture this special time, so they have reminders of their love for one another always. They also exchanged gifts. Ryan gave Shelby a Bible with her new name engraved on it, and a new cowbell with one of their engagement photos hand painted on it. Shelby gave Ryan a polka dotted box….A very special polka dotted box. I’ll let Shelby tell you in her own words, “I’ve been praying for my future husband since 7th grade and I have written him letters over the years and throughout our time together. I put all of these letters and random things for him inside this box.” I’m sure Ryan was wondering what in the world is Shelby giving me in this polka dot box! They cried, they hugged and they laughed! Wow! I was blown away!
There were so many special touches. Shelby carried a necklace in her bouquet that had a thumbprint of her step-sisters on it, she passed away from cancer. Shelby wore her mother’s pearl bracelet and her True Love Waits ring on her right hand. During the ceremony, Shelby and Ryan took communion and prayed together. Oh, by the way, Ryan’s grandfather did all the florals!
I am so honored and blessed to be able to capture this sweet and very special day for you, Shelby and Ryan! Enjoy!
